Tireshake ends White's day in round two

KIRKERSVILLE, Ohio - Broken studs, scheduling and a tricky racetrack got the best of Marc White and the Bar's Leaks/Etterman Racing team at this past weekend's Pontiac Excitement Nationals presented by Summit Racing at National Trail Raceway just outside of Columbus, Ohio. In his second round matchup with Jim Sickles, White launched into severe tireshake which ultimately caused the supercharger studs to break and 'bang' the blower off the car.

White, from Glendale Heights, Ill., who came into the event hot off a win at the O'Reilly Summer Nationals, qualified the Bar's Leaks Firebird third in the field with a 5.693 second pass at 249.39 mph. In round one, he took out Mick Snyder with a low e.t. of the round 5.641 at 253.75 mph. Track conditions changed drastically between round one and round two, however, which lead to the tireshake that ended the team's day.

"We ran the first round at about ten in the morning," said White. "Then for the second round, we sat in the staging lanes for three and a half hours waiting to run. The track changed up quite a bit during that time, and it went out there and shook hard and then knocked the blower off. That was the end of our weekend."

Team owners George and Jane Etterman will keep the show on the road as they head into the home event for sponsor Bar's Leaks at this weekend's Division 3 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series race in Stanton, Mich. The team won this event last year.
