DIXON DRIVES TO NO. 15 SPOT AT ST. LOUIS

MADISON, Ill. (June 24, 2006) Two-time NHRA Top Fuel champion Larry Dixon powered his Miller Lite dragster to the No. 15 qualifying position Saturday at Gateway International Raceway after making a run of 4.776-seconds at the 10th annual O'Reilly Midwest Nationals.

Top Fuel's winningest active driver entered the final day of qualifying at Gateway Int'l Raceway in the No. 13 qualifying position after racing to a performance of 4.886 seconds at 296.70 mph Friday evening under the lights at the multipurpose racing facility. Dixon saved his best run of the weekend for last when he blasted his Don "the Snake" Prudhomme-owned Miller Lite/Lucas Oil-backed rail to a 4.776, 305.70 effort to secure the No. 15 qualifying spot. Dixon qualified fourth at Gateway last June.

The 38-time NHRA winner will attempt to win his first career race at the St. Louis drag strip when he battles No. 2 qualifier and rival Brandon Bernstein in the first round of Top Fuel eliminations which begin at 3 p.m. (CT) on Sunday afternoon.
