DIXON QUALIFIES MILLER LITE RAIL FOURTH AT ST. LOUIS

MADISON, Ill. (June 25, 2005) -- Two-time NHRA Top Fuel champion (2002-03) Larry Dixon raced his Miller Lite dragster to the No. 4 qualifying position Saturday at Gateway International Raceway after recording a qualifying-best pass of 4.601 seconds at 322.58 mph.

After pacing the Top Fuel field behind the wheel of his Dick LaHaie-tuned Miller Lite/Ameriquest rail on Friday evening under the lights at the St. Louis-area track, the 37-time NHRA winner bettered his Friday effort after Dixon's rail clocked a performance of 4.601 seconds at 322.58 mph on Saturday's opening session to finish fourth in the 16-car order. On his fourth and final qualifying attempt of the weekend, Dixon's rail overpowered the hot Gateway Int'l Raceway drag strip and coasted to a run of 9.373 at 93.12.

"We qualified our car fairly well and we have an opportunity to race tomorrow," Dixon said. "We made a good run during the day on Saturday. The only difference on Sunday is that the track will be hotter because the first round is at 4:30 versus 6:30, which is when we ran today. I'm sure that Dick LaHaie will make the necessary changes for the track conditions so thatwe can go out and try and win first round."

Dixon will match-up against veteran racer Scott Weis in the opening round of Top Fuel eliminations, which begin at 4:30 p.m. (CT) on Sunday afternoon. Dixon has a career mark of 8-1 against Weis.
