DIXON FINISHES 13TH FRIDAY AT ST. LOUIS

MADISON, Ill. (June 23, 2006) Two-time NHRA Top Fuel champion Larry Dixon raced his Miller Lite dragster to the No. 13 qualifying position Friday at Gateway International Raceway as qualifying for the 10th annual O'Reilly Midwest Nationals kicked off near St. Louis. !

The 38-time NHRA winner saw his Miller Lite/Lucas Oil rail lose traction and coast to a 12.411-second elapsed time on Friday's opening attempt. Friday evening under the lights at the multipurpose racing facility, Dixon used a tune-up from crew chief Don Bender to power his Don Prudhomme-owned dragster to a performance of 4.886 seconds at 296.70 mph to claim the No. 13 qualifying position.

The veteran Top Fuel driver looks to earn a spot in the top half of the 16-car Top Fuel order when qualifying resumes at 3 and 6 p.m. (CT) on Saturday afternoon at Gateway Int'l Raceway.
