MADISON, Ill. (June 25, 2006) Two-time NHRA Top Fuel champion Larry Dixon raced his Miller Lite dragster to a first-round effort Sunday at Gateway International Raceway to complete the 10th annual O'Reilly Midwest Nationals.

The 38-time NHRA winner used the best reaction time of the opening round of eliminations (.061 of-a-second) to jump to the early lead, but the Miller Lite rail dropped a cylinder en route to a performance of 4.838 seconds at 303.83 mph. First round opponent Brandon Bernstein drove his red dragster to a pass of 4.736 at 301.40 to earn the round win.

The next NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event is the 27th annual Mopar Mile-High Nationals, July 14-16, at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo. near Denver. Dixon is a two-time winner at Bandimere Speedway (2001-03).
