Anderson exits in round two.

MADISON, Ill. -- Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pontiac Grand Am, entered eliminations at the 7th annual Sears Craftsman Nationals in the second position on the Pro Stock ladder. It was in the Friday night session of qualifying that Anderson ran a 6.815 / 202.85 mph to earn the second position.

In the first round of eliminations, Anderson met former NHRA Pro Stock World Champion Darrell Alderman. Anderson took the advantage at the starting line and held on to take an easy win over Alderman. Anderson ran a 6.869 / 202.09 mph to defeat Alderman with a 6.909 / 200.80 mph.

In Round 2 Anderson was up against rookie driver Taylor Lastor. As the pair staged their cars an over anxious Anderson was too quick on the lights handing the win to Lastor. Lastor ran a .6.866 / 201.49 mph to a red lighting Anderson who ran a 6.854 / 201.94 mph.

"I am very disappointed," said Anderson of Charlotte, NC "We had the car to win the race today, and I gave it away on the starting line. I really blew."

"I feel even worse about letting Ken Black and my team down. They work very hard every day to give me the best possible racecar I can have on Sunday. I let them down here today, and I feel just sick about it."

The next race on the 2003 NHRA POWERade drag racing circuit will be the 24th annual Mopar Parts Mile-High Nationals July 18-20 in Denver, Co.
