Pomona, Calif. – Two solid qualifying sessions, including today’s 6.539-second lap at a top-speed for the weekend 212.19 miles per hour, established Summit Racing Pro Stock driver Jason Line in the third position half-way through qualifying for Sunday’s 48th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals here.
“We didn’t make a great run,” opined the reigning and two-time NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock Champion. “But all in all, not bad. We’re just missing a little bit there and we still have a ways to go.”
With cool, over cast conditions predicted again for Saturday’s final two qualifying rounds, Line is optimistic about improving his position and challenging Summit teammate Greg Anderson who grabbed the first qualifying spot with a 6.527-second lap.“We definitely have a chance to move up,” he said. “We want to make the Summit Camaros one and two; that’s the goal. Greg made a decent run; with things going the right way for the first time in a while for his car and that feels real, real good.
“Considering how well we both ran today, we’ll just make some minor tweaks for Saturday – we’re not that far off. We just have to refine a bit from here. All in all, I’m pretty happy with the cars.”
Line’s run in yesterday’s opening qualifying session of 6.569 seconds at 211.10 mph had put him in second, but Anderson’s run today knocked him down one spot.
Qualifying is scheduled for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, with final eliminations set to begin at 11 a.m. Sunday.
