SCRIBNER, Nebr. - Defending Division 4 Top Alcohol Dragster Champion Lee Callaway took back over the Division 4 points lead by winning his second-straight race during this past weekend's Division 5 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at the Nebraska Motorplex in Scribner, Nebr. Callaway won his first ever race at this event last year.

Callaway, from Baytown, Texas, qualified his Tom Conway tuned Blown Alcohol Dragster second with a 5.641 second pass at 251.39 mph. In round one, he took out Ed Schmeekle with a 5.668 at 249.79 mph and then defeated Bob Perkins with a low elapsed time of eliminations 5.631 at 250.48 mph.

In the final, Callaway squared off with former three-time Division 5 Champion David Wells. Callaway got the jump off the line and never looked back, running a 5.663 at 250.48 mph to Wells' 5.705 at 250.48 mph.

"We always like racing at tracks like these," said Callaway. "Give us a hot and slick track any day, and this Chuck Haase' chassis just hooks up and goes. I won my first race here last year, and it's great to be able to come back and win it again."

"I really have to thank my tuner Tom Conway and my crew for the win this weekend," Callaway continued. "We finally found the combination on the last qualifier and from then we just tried to stay consistent. I guess it worked out that way."

Callaway's invasion of Division 5 will continue in two weeks as he heads to Great Bend, Kan., for the next stop on the Division 5 Lucas Oil Series.

"We like coming up here and running with the Division 5 guys," stated Callaway. "The weather and tracks up here kind of play into our hand. We can run with the best on a hot track, so if it stays hot, we should do pretty good."
