Brogdon ready for Vegas
(Las Vegas, NV) Five races into the Full Throttle championship run, Rodger Brogdon knows that the 2010 season has started much better than last, but that the results so far are still in need of improvement.
"We've got a very good race car right now, but we seem to keep running into stumbling blocks in round two. At Houston when you lost lane choice your day was effectively done. For Pro Stock the left lane just wasn't up to the task. Out of the 15 elimination runs on Sunday, the winner was in the right lane 13 times. We had a good run in our win against Stanfield in round 1, but when you're running Mike Edwards in round 2 you pretty much know that you're going to be in whatever lane he doesn't want. When the light turned green the car went hard right, just like it did in Saturday's qualifying session. I was grabbing gears and pulling it back into the groove but there wasn't going to be any catching him by that point."
Brogdon continued "I don't know what it was at Houston, but I know it wasn't just the Pro Stock cars having issues with the track. Both of the nitro classes were dealing with traction issues as well. After going Four-Wide at Charlotte and then facing what we faced at Houston, I know we're ready to head to Vegas. The track there always seems to be able to take whatever is thrown at it and the forecast for the weekend looks like we're going to get our first taste of warm weather conditions to deal with as well."
"Of course, after listening to last weekend's forecast going into Houston, who would have thought that we'd be down for more than 4 hours because of rain on Saturday. There wasn't a forecast all week that even hinted of rain. I guess with this week's forecast for low to mid eighties at Vegas we better pack the parkas and the snow gear," laughed Rodger.
"We've got just a couple of small things holding us back right now and I know that everyone on the Attitude Apparel team from Steve Kent down is working hard to get those issues resolved. This team is ready for a final round appearance and I honestly feel we're on the verge of doing just that. Congrats to Jeg who got the win in Houston and since both of our engines come from Cagnazzi's engine shop, we know we've got the power to get it done on race day. We'll be giving it everything we have in Vegas to accomplish that goal."
