NO. 8 IS GREAT, UNLESS YOU'RE RACING YOUR TEAMMATE

LAS VEGAS (April 14) -- Morgan Lucas qualified in the No.8 position with his run of 4.556 seconds, 324.59 mph for the running of the eighth annual Summitracing.com Nationals at the Strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and for that he's grateful. Unfortunately, it's the same scenario from earlier this year at the Phoenix race where he had to square off against teammate, Melanie Troxel.

"This weekend has already been a trip," said Lucas. "Rahn (Tobler, crew chief) is learning our car and the things he would have changed normally; he wouldn't make those kinds of big changes this weekend until he understands the car better. He's trying to figure it out and that's what he's done by trying out those things to see if the car would cooperate. He's been all across the board. The combination is great and he likes it and I think it's going to be a great deal.

"It's never fun having to run your own teammate, especially since this is only the second time I have ever had to do that. At the same time, maybe I should keep a positive outlook. One of our cars is going to the next round and then takes on an awesome first round race between the winner of the Tony Schumacher and J.R. Todd race in the quarterfinals. I'm here because I love to race, enjoy what I do and win, lose or draw it beats sitting behind a desk all day."
