Coughlin's face off in qualifying.

The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavaliers piloted by Jeg and Troy Coughlin faced off in the second round of qualifying with each improving their times from the first round.  Jeg ran a 6.968 over Troy's 6.975.  Both times put the Coughlin's in the quick sixteen.

"We are happy to have put together two good runs straight down the groove," said Troy.  "We've been working hard to get rid of the gremlins plaguing The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier and it looks like we have."

Jeg enters the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals with a 108 point lead over his closest competitor.  Pro Stock is currently the most competitive class in the NHRA.

"Troy and I were close, which is what you expect in Pro Stock," said Jeg.  "With the competition so close, we need to keep finding speed because every position is important in the race for the championship."

After a cool and breezy second round, second day qualifying conditions are expected to change with a chance of rain forecast for The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
