LAS VEGAS, (Oct. 28, 2007) -- At the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Scott Kalitta, driver of the DHL Toyota Solara Nitro Funny Car, watched his hopes of winning the Funny Car title in "Sin City" go up in smoke in Sunday's final eliminations.

Kalitta rolled to the starting line early Sunday afternoon to race against his first round opponent Mike Ashley. The two fuel flopper pilots qualified in the No 8 and No. 9 spots respectively on the Funny Car eliminations ladder. Not long after the race began, Kalitta's 7,000-horsepwer machine began experiencing traction problems and the predicament was too difficult for Kalitta to recover from as Ashley also had problems but got the win light in his lane, 8.730 seconds, 94.79 mph to 5.451 sec., 203.65 mph.
