FULLER RACES CATERPILLAR DRAGSTER TO NO. 7 POSITION FRIDAY AT LAS VEGAS

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 26, 2007) -- Rod Fuller drove his David Powers-owned Caterpillar dragster to the provisional No. 7 qualifying position Friday evening at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The five-time NHRA Top Fuel winner drove the Caterpillar-backed rail to the No. 7 spot with a run of 4.558 seconds at 320.13 mph Friday evening under the lights at The Strip at LVMS. Fuller entered the session 22nd in the order after the CAT dragster had mechanical problems on its opening qualifying effort and slowed to a pass of 11.942-seconds.

"I wish we would have tested," Fuller said. "We could not be qualified, so it's not so bad. We got in the show on the night run and the 4.55 ended up being a good run. I'm going to get some rest and come back strong for the Shootout on Saturday. There's a lot of money up for grabs."

Fuller and his Rob Flynn-led Caterpillar team will race for $100,000 in the Technicoat Shootout on Saturday afternoon. Fuller, the No. 2 seed, will face off against David Grubnic in the first round of the Shootout at 1 p.m. (PT). Fuller drove his Valvoline dragster to a runner-up finish in the bonus race last fall.

Professional qualifying continues Saturday at 1 and 3:30 p.m. (PT) at The Strip at LVMS. ESPN2 will televise two hours of qualifying highlights from the ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals at 10 p.m. (ET) on Oct. 27.
