KJ Stays Fast, Will Start Second in Las Vegas

Kurt Johnson completed a very impressive qualifying effort on Saturday at the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals, recording one of the quickest elapsed times while simultaneously posting the top speed in each of the four sessions. Johnson's quickest pass of 6.820 seconds on Saturday morning, which came with a top speed of 202.76 mph, earned the ACDelco Cobalt Racing team the second starting position for Sunday's final eliminations. This consistent performance has the team cautiously optimistic heading into race day.

"We're pretty pleased with the consistency of our ACDelco Cobalt this weekend. We attacked the chassis after the last race, making sure everything was right, getting it back to where we need it to be. The clutch is working well, and I'm able to cut good lights with the way it's set up.

"Of course, qualifying is one thing, and race day is another. We certainly want to win the ACDelco race, but we have to get by first round first. We race Bob Panella, but everybody in the top sixteen is tough, so we're not going to worry about it. We're just going to do our jobs and whatever happens, happens."
