KJ Qualifies Sixth for the ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals

Qualifying for the ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals was completed on Saturday with two runs at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Due to the warmer temperatures and higher humidity there were minimal changes at the top of the Pro Stock field, with Kurt Johnson's 6.719-second time from Friday remaining his run of record, slotting the ACDelco Cobalt in the sixth position for Sunday's final eliminations.

Heading into a very crucial race day, the second-generation racer was encouraged by his team's effort so far, feeling they had made progress in adapting to the tricky conditions at the Nevada quarter-mile, putting them in a good position to repeat their winning performance at this event in 2005.

"Our ACDelco Cobalt was consistent throughout the two days, with our last run this afternoon actually being our best, putting us in pretty good shape heading into race day. We're still off just a little bit, but it's all going to come down to whoever has the sharpest chainsaw and can mow down the tree tomorrow. I'm feeling pretty good, with a .025 and a .030 during qualifying.

"Of course, we also have to make the right calls in the pits, with everyone on the team doing their jobs. Tomorrow is a very important day in our chase for the championship, and we're ready to do whatever it takes to shine on the racetrack."
