LAS VEGAS (October 26, 2004) -- Station Casinos oddmakers have established Cory McClenathan, driver of the Carrier Boyz Racing Berryman Products Top Fuel Dragster, as a 10 to 1 favorite to win Top Fuel at this weekend's NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals.

Can McClenathan beat the odds?

"Yes, definitely," said McClenathan emphatically. "As they say, 'You don't race 'em on paper.' I have to admit though, there are certain cars that have the edge come race day. But any car out there can beat any other car at any given time. When you come to the line on Sunday you have a 50-50 chance of winning. No different than the guy in the other lane.

"People forget that this Carrier Boyz race team has been to the finals twice, winning at Atlanta. We would like to end this season with a statement and winning in Las Vegas would be the start of that statement. We want to carry momentum into the 2005 and start strong with our new marketing partner FRAM Filters next season."

In the Budweiser Shootout, a special race-within-a-race for Top Fuel drivers being held Saturday, the opening odds for McClenathan have been established at 8 to 1.

"The same deal here," McClenathan said with a laugh. "Everyone gave up on us with just three races to make a guaranteed spot in the Shootout. But this team led by crew chief Todd Smith and co-crew chief John Stewart didn't give up and we wound up in the No. 6 qualified spot for the Budweiser Shootout. So you can't count us out on Saturday."

Entering this weekend's event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, McClenathan is seventh in the NHRA POWERade Top Fuel point standing.

Qualifying for Cory Mac and Carrier Boyz Racing begins with two sessions scheduled for Friday (Oct. 29) at 4 and 6:30 p.m. and concludes with two additional sessions on Saturday (Oct. 30) at 12:15 and 3 p.m. The Budweiser Shootout will take place during Saturday's qualifying with eliminations rounds scheduled for noon, 1:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The hunt for the Top Fuel title takes place on Sunday with eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m. All times are local Las Vegas time and subject to change at anytime.

Qualifying highlights for the NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals can be seen on ESPN2 on Saturday (October 30) from 10:30 p.m. until midnight. ESPN2 will also air same-day television coverage of eliminations from 7 until 10 p.m. on Sunday (October 31). Television times are Eastern Time (ET) and subject to change at anytime. Carrier Boyz Racing joins the following list of all-star marketing partners throughout the remainder of the 2004 season: American Racing, Autolite Spark Plugs, Don Steves Chevrolet (La Habra, Calif.), Fabtech Motorsports, FRAM, Mac Tools, Negley Electric, Prestone and PurePower Oil.
