TASCA READY FOR LUCK IN VEGAS
LAS VEGAS (Oct. 29, 2008) -- It's been two weeks since Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang team were in competition in Virginia, and the Rookie-of-the-Year nominee and his team are re-energized and ready for racing this weekend in Las Vegas.
"Our team never looks back, we always looking forward and we're very excited to be back at the race track this weekend in Vegas," said Tasca. "Not qualifying in Richmond was certainly disappointing for us, especially after running our quickest time ever during Friday's qualifying. That was really a shot in the gut. But at the end of the day, we really did learn a lot in Richmond. We had the quickest 60-foot time in our history, so that was something that we've been really focused on."
Tasca's last visit to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was a solid one as the rookie driver spent the entire weekend in the top half of the qualifying field, while earning the No. 3 qualifying position, his second best qualifying showing of the season.
"Vegas is a great race track and a fantastic facility and it looks like we'll have some really great conditions," said the Rookie-of-the-Year nominee. "We're definitely looking to have a great weekend in Vegas. And as we wind down this year, a win is still at the top of our list as a goal. We've got two races to go and I feel that we've got as good a chance as anyone to grab a win in these next two races."
With just two races remaining in Tasca's first professional season, it's hard for the first-year driver to believe just how far he and his team have come in the past year.
"While we're thrilled with how our year has gone, and the data and foundation that we've laid for next year, this year isn't over," said Tasca. "We've got two more races to do well at, and we're determined to get a win. I kind of chuckle because this time last year, I was just trying to find a crew chief. And now, Chris [Cunningham, crew chief] and I are talking about the testing that we're going to do in the off season and during the next month. I mean we'll have more testing under our belt in the next two months of November and December, than we had in all of 2008. We've got a lot of good things going on, but we've still got some unfinished business in 2008 and we look forward to getting back to work this weekend."
