ANTRON BROWN QUALIFIES 10TH AT LAS VEGAS

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 30, 2010) - Antron Brown drove his Don Schumacher-owned Matco Tools/U.S. Army dragster to the No. 10 qualifying position Saturday evening at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in and oil-filled day of delayed racing action near Sin City.

Brown, who entered the final day of qualifying for the 10th annual Las Vegas NHRA Nationals in the provisional No. 8 qualifying position after racing to a lap of 3.911-seconds on Friday afternoon, fell to the bottom half of the 16-car order after Saturday's first lap. The 24-time NHRA winner's car lost traction and slowed to a run of 5.850 seconds at 151.77 mph as Shawn Langdon moved around Brown into the No. 8 slot. Brown's bright blue rail again lost traction and slowed to a lap of 7.061 at 92.94 on its final attempt as he fell to 10th in the field. It is just the third time this season that Brown has qualified in the bottom half of the field. He advanced to the quarterfinals both times.

"We struggled here this weekend at (Las) Vegas," Brown said. "I'm not sure why, but we missed it on the first run and have been playing catch-up all weekend. We'll go after it tomorrow and try to go some rounds here at LVMS."

Brown will face part-time runner T.J. Zizzo in the opening round of Top Fuel eliminations at 11 a.m. (PT) on Sunday at LVMS. Brown is 1-1 in two career matches against Zizzo, the No. 7 qualifier, and 1-0 this season.
