Chicago Closest to Home for Bradford

The NHRA event this coming weekend at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois, is the closest thing to a home race for Tom Bradford and the Balbayis Asset Consulting/Hal's Speedshop Pro Stock Motorcycle team. Route 66 is about 120 miles from Hal's suburban Milwaukee location. "We're looking forward to racing in front of our friends and families, and a lot of Hal's customers are coming down," said Bradford. "It'll be the first time a lot of them have seen us race with the new Buell program."

Bradford's first ever drag racing win was back in '92 at Great Lakes Dragway in Union Grove, Wisconsin. "I have memories of that win heading into this weekend," said Tom. "Wouldn't it be great to get our first NHRA win this weekend in front of our home crowd?"

Not that the Chicago race will be all fun and games for Bradford and the team. It's the start of a grueling three races in three weekends stretch on the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle calendar that will take the bike on to Englishtown, New Jersey and St. Louis. "Once the equipment leaves tonight, it doesn't return 'til after the St. Louis race," said Bradford. "So obviously, we're working real hard on the equipment to make sure everything's in good shape. Rob Schopf and Jim Schneider are making sure everything's in tip-top condition. With our limited budget, we're making sure we have as many spare parts assembled as we can."
