Joliet, Ill. - - As the dust settled on qualifying at the Lucas Oil Products Nationals at Route 66 Raceway, Matt Rhoades' face showed the dejection in not making the field for Pro Stock Truck.

Saturday's air was made to order for racing and the Haas-owned, Haas-prepared Chevy S-10 showed substantial improvement over Friday's performance. Rhoades first pass on Saturday of 7.532 seconds at 178.87 mph landed the Lake Havasu City, Ariz., driver in the 20th qualifying position on the grid.

"We continue to search for the optimum tune up. One that will place the Team Haas Chevy S-10 in the field," said Jerry Haas, team owner from Fenton, Mo. "We'll reevaluate our overall team performance and possibly have an announcement regarding future plans for Team Haas soon. Meanwhile, we'll continue searching for the combination that will make a 180 degree turn in our program."

The next event for Team Haas will be the Pontiac Excitement Nationals presented by Summit Racing at National Trail Raceway in Kirkersville, Ohio, just outside Columbus. The event will be contested June 14 through 17. Professional qualifying will take place Friday and Saturday, with final eliminations on Sunday.
