The prerace release of four-time NHRA Top Fuel winner

"Hot" Rod Fuller and the David Powers Motorsports Top Fuel team

"I think we've got one of the fastest cars and at a place like Joliet, we'll let her rip. If the weather conditions are good, we can run a personal best. Last year, we had a car that was good in the hot, but couldn't contend with the high-horsepower cars. Now, we've got a lot of horsepower and we can run with any car in the class. I'm excited about going to Route 66."

Last weekend in Topeka, Kan., Fuller qualified fourth with a 4.566-second elapsed time. It was his lowest starting position all season. He has two poles this season, Atlanta and St. Louis.

Fuller enters the Joliet race ranked second in the Top Fuel standings. He trails category-leader Brandon Bernstein by 56 points. Fuller has led the standings following five of eight races this season.

Last June, Fuller qualified sixth at the Chicago race with a 4.518-second elapsed time. He also set a then career-best speed at 330.96 mph. Two years ago at Route 66 Raceway, he advanced to his second career Top Fuel final round.

Fuller has advanced to at least the semifinal round at five of eight races this season with one victory to his credit, Phoenix.

Fuller earned the Super Comp title at Route 66 Raceway in 1999 defeating Darwin Shriver in the final round of the 8.90 class. He has 13 career sportsmen victories in three different categories (Super Comp, Super Gas and Stock).

Fuller will fly the yellow and black colors of Fabick CAT for the second time this season. He drove the Fabick CAT dragster to the pole and a semifinal effort at the St. Louis race in May.
