JOLIET, Ill. (June 11, 2006) -- Jason Line, driver of the KB Racing LLC, Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac, advanced to the second round of the NHRA CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals before being turned back by Richie Stevens, Jr.

With the air temperature 68 degrees and the track temperature 84 degrees, against V. Gaines in the opening round, Line recorded a 6.666-second pass to 6.668 seconds for Gaines, all of this on the Route 66 Raceway quarter-mile in Joliet, Ill. Line moves to the second round, Gaines goes on to the next race in New Jersey.

In the second round, No. 1 qualifier Stevens gains a slight advantage at the green light. Jason tries to run him down but runs out track. Line runs 6.670 seconds. Stevens runs 6.681. Win light to Stevens by .0104 seconds.
