JOLIET, Illinois (September 26, 2001) - Jerry Toliver, driver of the World Wrestling Federation sponsored Pontiac Firebird Funny Car, is prepared to race at the Route 66 Raceway outside Chicago for the second time in the 2001 NHRA Winston Drag Racing season.
"Last weekend at the Memphis Motorsports Park, we had a consistent race car that qualified in the top half (No.4) of the funny car field," Toliver said. "This weekend we are looking to do the same thing. Our goal all season has been to qualify in the top half of the field and win rounds. With the season coming to an end in a hurry, I would like to finish it up with a couple wins for the WWF Racing team."
"This is an excellent track with a great race surface and we are certainly looking forward to competing here again this weekend," Toliver continued. "During the 2000 season, I set a track record here at 4.831-seconds. That was a great accomplishment for this team and we would like to repeat that again this weekend."
"Last weekend we introduced a new paint scheme at the AutoZone Nationals in Memphis," Toliver said. "We are very proud to be a part of the WWF Get R.E.A.L. program that brings to the attention of middle and high school students and school administrators the importance of respect, education, achievement and leadership. Hopefully we can put our new car in the winner's circle at the NHRA National in Chicago."
Toliver Racing is in its fourth season of competition in the NHRA Drag racing Series in 2001. Toliver Racing has six wins to its credit as well as a third and fifth place finish in the 2000 season points championship. The Toliver Racing prepared WWF Get R.E.A.L. Pontiac Firebird will be driven by Jerry Toliver.
