Line out after round 1 in Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Today at the third annual Car Quest Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in Chicago, Ill. Jason Line driver of the KB Racing Chevrolet Cavalier entered Pro Stock eliminations in the 13th position. In the final session of qualifying Saturday afternoon Line drove his Cavalier to a 6.786 / 203.80 mph to place him in the 13th slot.

In Round 1 Line met Larry Morgan. Morgan took the advantage at the starting line, and held on to take the win. Morgan ran a 6.780 / 204.11 mph to defeat Line with a quicker 6.774 / 204.35 mph. The margin of victory was .006 of a second

"Loosing stinks, but it really stick when you loose on a hole shot," said Line of Mooresville, NC. "It makes it harder to take when you loose by .006 of a second. It was a good close race, but I did not have enough to catch him.

"I would have liked to have gone a few more rounds today, but I have plenty of time for that. I am going to race this car one more time this year. Hopefully, in Las Vegas I will get a chance to redeem myself."

The next race on the 2003 POWERade Drag Racing schedule the will see the series returning to Reading Pa. to contest the rained out 19th annual Lucas Oil Nationals. The race dates are October 4 and 5.
