Anderson looking for a three-peat in Chicago

JOLIET, Ill. -- Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pontiac Grand Am, arrives in Chicago for the running of the 6th annual Lucas Oil Route 66 Nationals trying to extend his winning streak. Anderson, who has won Pro Stock at the last two NHRA POWERade events, would like to complete the hat trick and record third race win in a row this weekend in the windy city.

At this event last year, Anderson lost control of his car in qualifying. At the finish line the Vegas General Construction ride turned over and slid down the top end of the racetrack. Anderson did qualify for the race, and went through two rounds of eliminations before loosing to Bruce Allen on race day.

"I think I will be all right as long as I can keep the car on four wheels," said Anderson of Charlotte, NC. "Last year I went for a wild ride, and I turned the car over on the top end. It turned out all right, but I would prefer not to do that again this year.

"This Route 66 Raceway can be very fast. If the weather cooperates and it is cool like they are saying it is supposed to be, we could see some records broken again at this race.

"I think we will do well again this weekend. We struggled a little bit last Sunday, but this car works so well at every track we go to, that I am sure we will be all right. Between this car, and the team I have backing me up in the pits; I do not have any worries.
