Del Worsham enters the United Association Route 66 Nationals in 10th place in the NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car point standings. He trails ninth-place Tim Wilkerson by 12 points and leads 11th-place Jeff Arend by 53 points.

Worsham has been a solid qualifier this year. In the season's first nine races, he has qualified in the top five six times; his average qualifying position is 5.67.

Last year at Route 66 Raceway, Worsham qualified 14th and lost to Tim Wilkerson in the first round of eliminations. Worsham has won three races at the Joliet, Ill. track; 2001, '02 and '04. Tony Pedregon, with four Joliet wins, is the only driver with more Route 66 Raceway Funny Car wins than Worsham.

Worsham prior to Route 66 Raceway:

"The Al-Anabi Toyota made some good progress in Topeka two weeks ago. We had four good qualifying runs, and our first round run in eliminations was the best of the weekend. I think we're finally making progress in becoming a consistent race team. Our four qualifying runs were all within five hundredths of a second; that's consistent. We're still 10th in points, but we're closer to ninth than we were so that's positive.

"That's the kind of progress that makes me really look forward to our next race, and if we keep it up, the Al-Anabi Funny Car will be challenging for wins soon. I am looking forward to Joliet more than I've looked forward to a race in a while. I've won three races there, and it would feel really good to win a fourth this weekend."
