FRAM Boost Dragster Qualifies 11th at Route 66 Raceway

JOLIET, Ill., June 10, 2006 -- Cory McClenathan's qualifying performance in the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM Boost Top Fuel dragster was a lot more consistent than the weather during the CarQuest Auto Parts Nationals at Route 66 Raceway.

McClenathan made the most of his lone run on a rain-troubled Saturday, producing an elapsed time of 4.552 seconds at 329.67 mph that put him 11th overall. He races Rod Fuller (6th, 4.518 at 327.51 mph) in the Sunday's opening round.

Rain and cold weather greeted the team Saturday morning and interrupted qualifying all day. The only professional session began shortly after noon and concluded just before 6 p.m. NHRA officials then canceled the final run.

"We went down the track on each run -- even the first one when the car made a hard move to the right and the right rear wheel got into the retaining wall. The run was disqualified," said McClenathan. "Wes (Cerny, crew chief) and Tony (Shortall, assistant crew chief) did a good coming back from brushing the wall. We ran two straight runs in the mid-4.50s. Wes was racing the track to get ready for Sunday's eliminations.

"The weather is expected to change on Sunday. "It will be warmer and that will play a big part in the tuneups, said McClenathan. It's anybody's guess tomorrow. Wes has a good warm weather tuneup so we should be ready to go."
