JEG'S Team Hopes To Pickup Momentum In Memphis
The JEG'S Mail Order Racing Team will be represented in three NHRA competition classes at Memphis Motorsports Park for the Pennzoil Nationals presented by AutoZone. Jeg, Jr. and Troy Coughlin will blast down the Memphis Motorsports Park quarter mile in Pro Stock. Jeg will add Super Stock to his driving tasks again this weekend. Pro Stock Truck will have to contend with Mike Coughlin's yellow and black JEG'S S-10.
"The next four weeks will be very important to every team out here. If you can pick up momentum here and carry it through the next four weeks you are going to be a threat to the entire field. Our team is focused on being a real player for the rest of the 1998 NHRA season," said Jeg Coughlin, Sr. The expected weather conditions are drastically different then what the teams experienced last weekend at the Parts America Nationals, which has been postponed due to rain. The air temp and humidity should be low which will set the stage for quick and fast times in all classes.
Jeg Coughlin, Jr. stated, "I feel that our #25 car is back on track for this weekend, it's acting again like it did in the beginning of the season. We came out swinging at the beginning of the season and we intend to go out swinging even harder! This car should be a real threat for the rest of the season. Now that the consistent performance is back we will be a player and a team to keep your eyes on." Driving two cars is a challenge that this young driver loves. He has the ability, desire, and focus to drive in two classes in which the christmas tree is as different as black and white. "I just love to race, it's that simple! I focus better on the tasks at hand when I have more going on around me. When I don't perform up to my expectations in one car it pushes me to excel in the other car. When I am in the zone in both cars it's an awesome feeling," said Jeg, Jr.
"I am back to feeling better about my performance level in and out of the #8 JEG'S Mail Order Olds. The car is responding well to the changes that we have made and we have a great handle on the data that has been generated from these changes. I look for big things to come out of the JEG'S pit this weekend," said Troy. Troy is within reach of the NHRA Pro Stock top ten and if he gains momentum he and his #8 JEG'S Mail Order car will be a force that the entire Pro Stock field will have to deal with. With his confidence back and the performance of the car back this driver could visit the winners circle here.
"Last weekend was a disappointment for me. However, I am hungry for my first NHRA Pro Stock Truck win. Our team has a very good handle on how the truck has reacted to changes and the improvement in the horsepower is making a difference that everyone can measure," said Mike. This driver is threat to each driver who pulls up next to him in the water box. The first NHRA national event win for this driver is around the corner.
