HOT ROD FULLER RACES TO NO. 9 SPOT SATURDAY AT U.S. NATIONALS

CLERMONT, Ind. (Aug. 4, 2010) - "Hot Rod" Fuller powered his Abu Dhabi/Yas Marina Circuit Top Fuel dragster to the provisional No. 9 qualifying position Saturday evening at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. The seven-time Top Fuel winner posted an elapsed time of 3.840-seconds to move solidly into the field for the 56th annual U.S. Nationals.

Entering day two of qualifying for the prestigious U.S. Nationals in the No. 13 qualifying position after clocking an opening-night run of 4.026-seconds, Fuller's Abu Dhabi rail lost traction mid-track and slowed to a pass of 5.482 seconds at 116.27 mph. The Abu Dhabi car broke a throttle cable on the pass. On Saturday's second effort, Fuller used a tune-up from crew chief Lee Beard, a four-time U.S. Nationals winner, to power to a lap of 3.840 at 318.17 to finish ninth in the order. It was the third fastest 1,000-foot speed for Fuller (318.39 and 318.32, Las Vegas 2 2008).

"We had some bad luck this weekend to start the race, but that was a great job by this Abu Dhabi/Yas Marina (Circuit) team to run that 3.84 tonight," Fuller said. "We're very happy with that and we're in the show and now we need to be consistent during the daytime with two good laps on Sunday."
