MAIL TERMINAL SERVICES 'MAIL FROM HOME' PROGRAM FEATURED ON VALVOLINE/MTS DODGE FUNNY CAR AT U.S. NATIONALS
BROWNSBURG, Ind. - The popular and highly-successful Mail from Home program instituted by Mail Terminal Services in 2007 as part of the company's support of the Valvoline/Mail Terminal Services Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car driven by Jack Beckman will be featured on the car at the U.S. Nationals Aug. 29-Sept. 1 in honor of the U.S. troops overseas.
The Mail from Home program allows fans and competitors an opportunity to sign unique cards in the Don Schumacher Racing hospitality area and at a kiosk within the U.S. Army Racing Zone at NHRA national events with messages to the U.S. troops overseas, which are then distributed free to war-zone camps by MTS. The number of postcards distributed by MTS so far in 2008 is expected to exceed the 90,000 mark that was reached in 2007.
"It became evident starting in Denver (July 11-13) that the Mail from Home program was really gaining a lot of momentum," said MTS President and CEO Rodger Comstock. "And in Brainerd (Aug. 8-10) a new record of 1800 cards collected in one day was set, with an overall record of over 5000 cards for the weekend.
"I made the decision then that we would have a car at the U.S. Nationals dedicated to the troops who receive the mail. And, on the car is a picture of a soldier reading his mail in the war zone.
"Our goal is to keep the momentum going and exceed the 90,000 number of cards we delivered to the troops in 2007. We project that MTS will deliver over 100,000 cards by the end of 2008."
To help achieve this goal, Mail Terminal Services is holding a competition among its 17 terminals around the U.S. to collect the highest number of cards. The winning terminal will be determined after the Richmond, Va., NHRA event (Oct. 10-12) and will have the privilege of sending two representatives to the Las Vegas event (Oct. 31-Nov. 2) for a four-day working vacation on MTS. They will man the U.S. Army kiosk and watch the races, and will be treated to a stay at a casino hotel and a show.
"The success of the Mail from Home program," added Comstock, "is the result of the dedication of the 1100-plus employees of Mail Terminal Services in supporting our partners at DHL Global Mail, the United States Postal Service and all of their customers at home and overseas."
"We've enjoyed tremendous racing success through our technical partnership with all of the Don Schumacher Racing teams, including wins by the Valvoline/MTS Funny Car." said John Stotz, Director of Global Brands for Valvoline. "We're proud to further support the MTS at-the-track correspondence campaign and our troops abroad with a special paint scheme on Jack Beckman's Funny Car during the U.S. Nationals."
"We at Don Schumacher Racing are privileged to be a part of this wonderful program that Mail Terminal Services has introduced to our team and NHRA," said team owner Don Schumacher. "We heartily support MTS's efforts in this extremely rewarding endeavor."
