Will's "Support Our Troops And Their Families" dragster advances to 2nd round

CLERMONT, Ind. (September 3, 2007) -- Hillary Will advanced to the quarterfinals during eliminations at the 53rd annual NHRA Mac Tools U.S. Nationals.

In the opening round, Will and her first round opponent Doug Foley left together, but Foley started slowing and Will was ahead by the 330-foot mark and continued pulling away until she hazed the tires and lost the blower belt near the top end of the quarter-mile. But Will had enough of a lead at that point to easily take the win light, stopping the finish line timers in 5.238 seconds. Foley coasted through in 11.251 seconds.

In round two, Will smoked the tires on the hit of the throttle, while Larry Dixon, with what looked like a dropped cylinder, motored to the win light in the other lane. Dixon's 4.699 turned back Will's coasting 12.738.

The loss ended the day for the KB Racing-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Support Our Troops And Their Families Top Fuel dragster. In the oppressive heat and humidity, Will and her KB Racing LLC/Kalitta Motorsports team performed exception well and are to be congratulated for a job well done.

"Our Support Our Troops And Their Families Top Fuel dragster did well during qualifying," said Will, following today's action. "Hopefully, we can take that performance and carry it through the final five races of the season. We really wanted to put the Support Our Troops car in the winner's circle today and are definitely going to get there and when we do it will be for all the troops.

"Also, I'd like to thank my Kalitta teammates. After we won first round today, we had a lot of help from all the other teams that make up Kalitta Motorsports and it was really neat how the whole team came together to help us out.

"Our next race is in Memphis and we went to the final round there last year. We know how to win there and we're going to go out and try to go one round better this year."
