CRUZ PEDREGON FACES TOUGH COMPETITION AT U.S. NATIONALS

INDIANAPOLIS (September 4, 2007) -- Cruz Pedregon, a three-time U.S. Nationals winner and his Advance Auto Parts Funny Car team narrowly missed the competitive Funny Car field this past weekend in Indianapolis.Under the direction of newly appointed crew chief, Rahn Tobler, the Advance Auto Parts team's best lap down the historic drag strip was a 4.960 second, 300.33 mph pass which came during the fifth and final qualifying session.

"We are disappointed about this weekend, for sure," said Pedregon.b^0x001cWe did the best we could, but just came up short. If you don't make the field during the night session, then your chances of making the field during the heat of the day decrease dramatically.

Rahn Tobler made his debut with Cruz Pedregon's Advance Auto Parts team as new crew chief just in time for the 53rd annual U.S. Nationals.

"Rahn's going through the car and when he puts his stamp of approval on all the systems, we'll be running more consistently.Over the next week, we'll be hard at work making the changes necessary for us to rebound in Memphis."

"When you make a regime change, it goes deeper than one guy.Collectively, the team has to work within Rahn's system to prepare and run the car.I know we have the equipment and the team, now it's just a matter of putting it all together. We'll be ready for Memphis."
