Jeg looks strong going into race day

Jeg started the final day of qualifying for the 49th Annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals sitting in the No. 2 position with a time of 6.785 at 204.63 mph.

The reigning NHRA Pro Stock POWERade champion looked very impressive until a spark plug went out in third gear during the fourth qualifying session. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier was the quickest car to the 330-foot clock. Jeg shut off and coasted to the finish line.

"Fortunately we were already in the show firmly and the failure didn't keep us from qualifying," said Jeg. "Our incremental numbers were up over our competition until the spark plug failed. We would have run 6.801 or better."

The final qualifying session was in the heat of the day. Jeg laid down another impressive run by posting a 6.826 at 201.43 mph.

"We left some on the table down low," said Jeg. "I think we have a solid game plan going into race day and we are in a position to have a great weekend. Winning the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals is our goal."

Jeg remained in the No. 2 qualifying position. The two-time NHRA POWERade Pro Stock champion will go head-to-head against Allen Johnson in the opening round of the biggest and most prestigious race in Drag Racing.
