CLERMONT, IND. (AUG. 29) -- The first day of racing at the 49th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals was cut short due to rain delays. Current NHRA POWERade points leader Larry Dixon will have to wait until tomorrow to drive his Snake Racing/Miller Lite dragster toward a third career victory at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

"Today was a let down," said crew chief Dick LaHaie. "Because we know if the weather was right and the track is cool, this would be the night for the numbers. There could've been records set tonight."

The U.S. Nationals, like the Super Bowl, Stanley Cup or the Final Four is the most anticipated race of the NHRA's 23 stop POWERade Drag Racing tour. Like a coach motivating the team before a big game, crew chief Dick LaHaie plans to give his Snake Racing team a pre-race pep talk tomorrow.

The first session of qualifying begins tomorrow at 12:45 PM (ET) followed by the second session at 6:30 PM (ET). Watch ESPN2 Saturday for early qualifying coverage from 7:30-8:30 PM (ET).
