Anderson and Line will be double trouble in Indy
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pontiac Grand Am, wants two things. First he wants is to win this weekends 49th annual Mac Tools US Nationals then the Pro Stock Championship. Starting at the US Nationals Anderson will institute a plan that could fulfill both his wants.
"We are entering the US Nationals on the offensive," said Anderson of Charlotte, NC. "Winning Indy is a very important step to winning the championship. You just about have to win Indy if you want to take home that gold trophy at the end of the year. We decided that from this point on this Vegas General Construction team is going to double our offense and bring back our second car. Jason Line will again take the seat of the second KB Racing car."
Jason Line made his Pro Stock debut at this years Pontiac Excitement Nationals driving the second KB Racing car. In an unfortunate turn of events, Line crashed his KB Racing ride in round 1 of eliminations. The car sustained heavy damage and was a total loss. A new car is being built, but will not be ready until late September.
To set his offense plan in motion Anderson enlisted the help of friend, Father-in-law, and past team owner Troy Humphrey. Anderson and Humphrey are pooling their resources to put Line back in the seat of the number 2 car for Indy and the remainder of the 2003 season.
Anderson continues, "look, I know that right now my biggest competition for the championship is Kurt Johnson. I worked for Warren for a lot of years and know how he plays the game. I know that Warren (Johnson) is going to pull out all the stops to try to prevent me from winning even one more round. I know this, and I know that I have to take measures just as extreme to stay in the game.
"The first part of our plan is to get Jason back out there. It is very important that I have him there as a blocker. I have every confidence in Jason and his abilities as a driver. In my opinion, what happened at Columbus is no indication of what he can do behind the wheel; it was a fluke. I know that Jason will be able to get the job done for us. He is an asset to this team in the pits, and will be an even bigger asset behind the wheel."
"The second part of our plan is in the motor room. Performance wise we have got them covered. To my guys credit they just keep building more horsepower every day. Our engine shop is the class of the field, and they continue to give me 150 percent every day."
"Without a doubt this two car team is going to be double trouble this weekend in Indy and for the rest of the season. I want this race, and I want this Championship. Jason Line, and this KB Racing team, is going to make that happen for me."
Qualifying at the 49th annual Mac Tools US Nationals will begin on Friday Aug. 29, continue on Saturday Aug. 30, and finish on Sunday Aug. 31. Eliminations will take place on Monday Sept. 1 at 11:00 AM EST.
