HOUSTON, Texas - Mark Whisnant, driver of the PiranaZ Chevrolet S-10 Pro Stock Truck, is fired up about his team's chances at the 14th Annual O'Reilly Nationals in Houston, Texas March 22- 25.

The PiranaZ team is putting last weeks DNQ in Gainesville behind them and are charging into Houston with a renewed attitude.

"Gainesville was bad race for us," said Whisnant of Stockbridge, Ga. "but we are not going to let it get us down. We have put in the work and are coming to Houston prepared to fight.

"In Gainesville we were down on power and could not figure out why. That was really frustrating for us. On Sunday we went back to our shop and went to work. This past week we have spent a lot of late nights working on the truck. We found a couple things wrong and have corrected the problems.

"I'm not discouraged. Parts breakage happens to everybody. We buy the best equipment that we can, but malfunctions will happen. It can be discouraging, but we are not giving up.

"If nothing else this makes us work harder. That is what the PiranaZ race team is all about. The guys on my team are digging in and giving 150 percent. They are working hard and not giving up. This team is pumped. We will be all right.

"I feel confident that we can do well in Houston. We have tested pretty well there in the past, and have good data on the racetrack. I have total faith in the Jenkins horsepower under the hood, and the guys I have backing me up in the pits.

"The DNQ in Gainesville happened. We cannot change that. What we need to do now is forget about it and concentrate on Houston and the rest of the season.

"I feel like we have turned a corner, and from now on your going to see a different PiranaZ race team. We are fired up and ready race."

Qualifying at the 14th Annual O'Reilly Nationals will take place on Friday March 23 and Saturday March 24. Eliminations begin on Sunday March 25 at 11:00 AM CST.
