Team Jeg's - Saturday Qualifying Summary

The second and final day of qualifying brought slightly different conditions to the table for the Pro Stock Truck class. The threat of rain was apparent all day.

During the third qualifying session Mike and his Jeg's Mail Order Chevy S-10 started off sitting in the No. 7 spot. Mike ran a 7.489 at 178.78 mph, which was the identical time that he ran during the second qualifying session. He was eighth quickest of the session and slipped to the No. 8 position.

"The conditions were better for us during the second qualifying session yesterday. To run the same ET that we did yesterday in not as good conditions shows that we are going in the right direction with this Jeg's Chevy S-10," explained Mike. "High humidity is something that the carburetors don't respond very well to. It makes it even more of a challenge to tune these Chevy small block engines."

Mike ran a 7.513 at 178.50 mph during the final qualifying session. The run was not an improvement for the Jeg's Mail Order Chevy S-10 and he landed in the No. 9 position. Mike will face off against John Lingenfelter in the opening round.

"We were looking for an improvement out of the Jeg's machine in the final qualifying session," said Mike. Although we don't have lane choice, you can't win the race unless you are qualified. We will spend a lot of time tonight preparing for the first round. I expect the Jeg's Mail Order Chevy S-10 will come out swinging when the sun comes up tomorrow in Texas."
