HOUSTON (Oct. 23) - With the rescheduling of last week's NHRA O'Reilly Fall Nationals due to rain (Nov. 3-4), many would think that Larry Dixon would be very disappointed not to have been able to climb in Don Prudhomme's Miller Lite Dragster and complete his first lap since his Memphis accident occurred on Oct. 8. “I wasn't any more disappointed that anyone else,” said Dixon. “It is quite an undertaking for the all of the teams to go into a race weekend and have to hang out and not do a thing for four days, so from that standpoint it was a real bummer. But for us, it was actually better. As it stood with the weather in Dallas, we were only going to get one or two runs in the car before eliminations began. The more runs we get under our belt the better in this new car before we go into competition.”

Not only will Dixon and the Miller Lite squad get another crack at Mother Nature this weekend at the 4th Annual Matco Tools Supernationals (Oct. 26-29), but they return to Houston Raceway Park, where Dixon has won the last two events.

“H.R.P. has been a good track for Dick LaHaie and the Miller Lite Team, so I just want to try and keep that streak alive,” said Dixon. “As far as worrying about my first ride back in the car?… I am not thinking like that. I guess the thing that makes me nervous most is that we are bringing a brand new car to a national event. We talked about testing during this week, but Dick LaHaie and (Asst. crew chief) Don Bender are pretty confident that the data we have from the other car is good enough to run in the 4.60s. We will just work on improving our tune up from there.”
