Scelzi could clinch at this event if he leads by 139 points or more after eliminations ... John Force clinched his seventh career NHRA Winston Funny Car championship and Jim Yates his second career Pro Stock championship last weekend at the Revell Nationals near Dallas ...McClenathan became the first driver in NHRA history to exceed 320 mph with his NHRA-record speed of 321.77 last weekend at Dallas. Joe Amato also broke the 320 barrier ... Two-time NHRA Winston champion Scott Kalitta, 35, announced at Dallas that he will retire after this season ... McClenathan has won six NHRA national events this season, tying an NHRA Top Fuel record for victories in a season, set by six drivers ... Yates has won four consecutive races and appeared in nine of 10 final rounds since late June ...
