MILLINGTON, Tenn. (Sept. 23, 2003) -- Tony Schumacher and his US Army team led the way as seven cars sporting Goodyear tires won a final round during the NHRA Mid-South Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Schumacher survived a heavy crash during Friday's qualifying, then soldiered on to advance to the final round and knock off Larry Dixon.

Whit Bazemore beat Dean Skuza in the Funny Car final and Greg Anderson defeated Jeg Coughlin Jr. to take the Pro Stock final.

Shannon Jenkins, racing on Goodyear tires, won the Pro Mod final.

It was an especially successful weekend for sportsman teams racing on Goodyear tires. Goodyear won three of the five sportsman classes. No other tiremaker won more than one Sportsman final.

The sportsman winners racing on Goodyear Eagles included Todd Ewing in Super Comp, Michael Park in Competition Eliminator and Donald Hough in Stock Eliminator.

Goodyear-equipped cars have now won 103 times in NHRA national competition, best in the tire industry. That includes 46 victories in sportsman classes. Goodyear leads the industry in wins in three sportsman classes.
