DAVIS, GOODYEAR D6568 RADIAL WINNERS AT ROUTE 66

JOLIET, Ill. (June 8, 2009) -- Adam Davis is living the dream.

Two years after leaving a full-time job in his native Alabama, Davis has carved out a living as a professional drag racer.

He's been successful and part of the story is the Goodyear tires that car owner Todd Ewing puts on the back wheels of the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Davis races in the NHRA's Stock Eliminator category.

"They're good tires, real good," said Davis, 24. "Some people have trouble hooking up. This tire hooks right up."

The tire is Goodyear's D6568 radial. It measures 30 inches tall and nine inches across the tread face. It mounts on a 15-inch wheel. The construction includes Goodyear's D4 tread compound.

The D6568 was effective at the NHRA's United Association Route 66 Nationals at Route 66 Raceway, where Davis won in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Stock Eliminator final.

Jim Whiteley, also racing on Goodyear rubber, won in Top Alcohol Dragster at Route 66 and cars equipped with Goodyear tires advanced to the finals of two other sportsman categories.

Whileley's supercharged TAD car was equipped with a set of Goodyear D1022 rear drive tires. The D1022 measures 34.5 inches tall and 17 inches across the tread. It mounts on a 16-inch wheel and includes Goodyear's D2A tread compound.

Davis' win at Route 66 was his fourth win in national competition and his second in as many weeks. He won at Heartland Part Topeka a week before the Route 66 race and he won at Memphis and Virginia in 2008.

Two years after leaving his job working on Alabama's highways, Davis now races his own car in bracket races around his home in Cullman, Ala. and drives Ewing's car in selected national NHRA events.

"I need to win some more races," Davis said. To that end, he hopes to drive the Camaro in more NHRA events later this season.

If he does, he'll count on his Goodyear Eagle D6568s to help him get down the track.
