MADISON, Ill. (Saturday June 23)– Today at the 4th Annual Sears Craftsman NHRA Nationals Team DBP drivers, Greg Stanfield and Bart Price have placed their truck is the third and 14th spots on the Pro Stock Truck eliminations ladder.
In the second session of qualifying Stanfield ran a 7.475 / 180.05 mph to secure the third position. It was in the same session that Price ran a 7.518 / 178.80 mph which would hold for the 14th spot.
This is both a blessing and a curse for Team DBP. A blessing, both trucks have qualified for Sunday’s race; a curse, they race each other in Round 1.
"It is a pretty tough deal when you have to race your boss in the first round," said Stanfield. "But I guess you will have that from time to time when you have a two truck team.
"Naturally I would have liked to have someone else in the first round. We decided a long time ago, that when this kind of thing happens, we would race each other just like we race anyone else. So that is what we are going to do tomorrow: race.
Team owner Bart Price concurred: "When Greg and I first put this two truck team together, we knew this might happen. We decide then and there, that in this situation we would race. We are both racers, and neither on of us likes to lose. So, there was never any question about one of us taking the fall for the other. It is out of the question. We race to win. Period."
Pro Stock Truck eliminations at the 4th Annual Sears Craftsman NHRA Nationals in St. Louis, Mo. begin at 11:00 AM CST on Sunday June 24.
