MADISON, Ill. - Ed Hoover has his sights set on repeating his Commerce success. His latest outing in qualifying during the Sears Craftsman Nationals in Madison, Ill., has the Columbia, S.C.-based driver convinced that he's on the right path.

Hoover entered the final day of qualifications as fourth quickest with a 6.315, 221.89.

With the sun beating down on the track and the temperature steadily climbing, Hoover decided to show the "Show Me State" a glimpse of his warm weather prowess by emerging as the quickest of the nitrous-injected machines with a 6.346, 220.73. He maintained his fourth position headed into the fourth and final session.

He entered the final session with the objective of trying to get his elimination set-up ready for Sunday. The car launched hard and drifted out of the groove. He wisely aborted the run.

Hoover ended qualifying as the seventh quickest and will face Ron Kammes in the first round.
