BARTONE RESETS CAREER BEST ELAPSED TIME QUALIFIES THIRD FOR GATORNATIONALS

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 18) -- Tony Bartone, the driver of the Jim Dunn-owned Lucas Oil Chevrolet Monte Carlo Funny Car had a superb qualifying run resetting his career best elapsed time and will enter the 37th annual ACDelco Gatornationals in the No. 3 starting position meeting veteran, Jim Head in the first round of Sunday's eliminations.

Bartone qualified with a resounding 4.781 elapsed time at a speed of 321.19 mph to exceed his previous best of 4.792 seconds set last September.

"Well you know sometimes when you struggle you have to sit back and evaluate the situation," said Bartone, who was impressed at the rapid rise in their Gatornationals success. "We rebuilt the whole car, especially the electrical system. Jon (Dunn, crew chief) and Jim made one heck of a recovery. I'm very proud to be associated with the Lucas Oil team and Jim Dunn Racing and it's been one heck of a comeback after Phoenix and I personally I think we have a great race car for tomorrow. When things get rough and the tough get going you get the results and that's exactly what we have here."
