GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 17) - Qualifying is over at the 32nd Annual Mac Tools Gatornationals, and Brian "Lump" Self has failed to qualify his Lump Cylinder Heads Chevrolet S-10 Pro Stock Truck.

Self, of Houston, Texas, was plagued by a number of mechanical problems. The problems made it impossible for Self to take advantage of the good qualifying session and subsequently missed the show.

"We had problems all weekend long," said Self of Houston, Texas. "When we got here on Friday the track was real slick, we got loose and threw that run away. In the second session on Friday we broke a transmission.

"We needed a good run in the morning session. It was a good pass, but it should have been better. We were a little off when we needed to be right on.

"When it warmed up for the last session we knew we had to give it everything we had, but it wasn't enough.

"Know one likes to DNQ, especially me. The good news is that the next race is at our home racetrack in Houston. We have a lot of time on that track and should be able to do well there. We would really have to mess up not to qualify there."

The next stop on the NHRA Drag Racing tour will be the 14th Annual O'Reilly Nationals in Houston, Texas March 22-25.
