GAINESVILLE, Fla., March 14 -- Justin Humphreys has a new engine builder and a No. 11 Pro Stock starting position for Sunday's NHRA ACDelco Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway.

Humphreys, a tour regular in 2007 and 2008, made his 2009 debut a good one with a solid quarter-mile run of 6.637 seconds at 207.53 mph in the Race Redi Pontiac during Saturday's first qualifying attempt. He came back in the warmer afternoon session and stopped the clock in 6.672 seconds with horsepower coming from Bill Book engines.

"It was a good day," said the driver from Monrovia, Md. "We got a few runs in testing and a few runs here and have an engine that is competitive. We have no complaints.

"The engine is awesome. Frank (Gugliotta, crew chief) is trying to figure out what it wants. We know we can run competitive times."

His first-round foe is Jeg Coughlin (No. 6, 6.623 at 207.50).
