Millican and Team Werner Qualify 8th at NHRA Gatornationals

Gainesville, Fla. - March 19, 2005 Clay Millican of Team Werner/Lehman Racing qualified in the number eight position at the NHRA Gatornationals, his second race of the season.

Millican qualified with an elapsed time of 4.572 at 315.90 mph. He will have lane choice in the first round of Sunday's eliminations against number nine qualifier Scott Kalitta, who qualified with an E.T. of 4.577 at 326.20 mph.

"I'm proud of this Werner team for getting the car down the track every single time in qualifying," said Millican. "Hopefully we can continue that streak tomorrow in the finals."

This marks Millican's fourth time to race at the NHRA Gatornationals, as he also competed here in 2001, 2002, and 2003. Millican's last race was the 2005 season-opener in Pomona, Calif., where he advanced to the quarterfinal round of eliminations.

Millican currently sits in 13th place in the NHRA POWERade Top Fuel points standings, and hopes for a strong performance in eliminations to help move his team into the top 10. Following the NHRA Carquest Winternationals, he held the number eight position, but moved to 13th because he did not race at the second national event of the season in Phoenix.

Werner Enterprises Top Fuel Dragster A four-time International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Top Fuel Champion with Team Werner/Lehman Racing, Millican will compete a limited NHRA schedule that currently includes at least six national events, as well as a full IHRA schedule, where he will go for a fifth consecutive championship.
