Gann Eighth After Friday's Qualifying in E-Town; Former event winner makes solid run at Raceway Park

Englishtown, N.J. -- After two rounds of qualifying Friday at the United Association NHRA SuperNationals at Raceway Park, four-time NHRA Full Throttle Series Pro Stock Motorcycle Nationals event winner Shawn Gann and his XTreme Rebellion/RumBum Buell is solidly in eighth after an ET of 7.069, earned during Q2, with a speed of 186.60 mph.

Gann, who won this event as the No. 1 qualifier in 2003, had a little drama during his second run Friday as he was unable to slow down in time and ended up in the catchnet at the end of the track's gravel trap. The bike was unscathed, which is fortunate since his Buell was completely rebuilt after an engine issue last week in Joliet forced them out in the first round.

Currently, Gann is eighth in the PSM points standings, tied with Steve Johnson. The provisional top qualifier after Friday's qualifying is Craig Treble, whom Gann here in the 2003 finals. Treble earned the top spot with a run of 7.008/190.43 mph.

Gann and the rest of the NHRA Full Throttle Series Pro Stock Motorcycle class resume qualifying at Noon EST Saturday with the second round starting at 3 p.m. Sunday's eliminations begin at 11 a.m.
