NHRA offers "Double-Up" bonus to NHRA Pro Stock Challenge competitors, increasing weekend payout to more than $100,000.

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) will award a lucrative "Double-Up" bonus to any Pro Stock competitor who can win the NHRA Pro Stock Challenge and the Matco Tools SuperNationals presented by Racing Champions, May 16-19 at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

The winner of the $50,000 NHRA Pro Stock Challenge on May 18th will be eligible to earn a $25,000 bonus for claiming a victory in the Matco Tools SuperNationals Pro Stock eliminations on May 19. The combined totals for winning the two events, plus the bonus, will increase the total payout to more than $100,000, the single richest payday in Pro Stock racing.

Only four Pro Stock drivers have accomplished the feat in NHRA history, including most recently, Warren Johnson (1993). Darrell Alderman (1991), Larry Morgan (1989) and Bob Glidden (1987, 1988) have also earned the prestigious "Double-Up" bonus.

The NHRA Pro Stock Challenge is a $76,000 race-within-a-race bonus event for eight Pro Stock drivers who have accumulated the most points during qualifying for NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events during the calendar year. Drivers qualified for the 2002 NHRA Pro Stock Challenge include Jim Yates, W. Johnson, Ron Krisher, Bruce Allen, Mike Edwards, George Marnell, Kurt Johnson and Mark Osborne.
