Dixon and Miller Lite Dragster rained out on first day at Old Bridge Raceway Park.

ENGLISHTOWN, NJ (May 16) - Rain prohibited the 2002 NHRA POWERade defending champion Larry Dixon and the Miller Lite team from two rounds of qualifying Friday at the 34th annual K & N Filters SuperNationals at Old Bridge Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. With only two passes remaining, Saturday qualifying will be crucial.

Coming off a second consecutive Southern Nationals win in Atlanta, Dixon hopes to keep his winning ways up to date, dating back to 1995.

In his rookie year, Dixon and the Don Prudhomme owned dragster won the Mopar Nationals held at Old Bridge Raceway Park back in 1995. Dixon reached the finals in 2002, had a runner-up finish in 1996 and three semifinal efforts in 1998, 2000, and 2001. During qualifying he has recorded three "poles," a 2nd, two 3rds, a 5th, and 6th qualifying result, not to mention the track speed record held at 326.48 mph (May 2002).

Catch ESPN2 Saturday May 17th, at 6PM (ET) for early round qualifying and on Sunday May 18th, for eliminations at 4PM (ET).
